'The Heart of Éislek'

£70.00

21cm x 48cm

Like many others who have grown up in Luxembourg, I've always enjoyed taking the time to explore the natural beauty our country has to offer. The north, in particular, has so much to discover, from its vast woodlands and winding trails to its peaceful lakes and beautiful changing landscapes. It only felt right to dedicate one of my weavings to the beauty of this part of home.

Inspired by the landscapes of Éislek, also known as the Luxembourgish Ardennes, this piece reflects the rich colours and textures found throughout its forests. Deep forest greens, mossy shades, earthy browns and softer natural tones come together to capture the feeling of wandering beneath the trees, surrounded by nature.

Through a combination of chunky yarns, intricate braids and layered textures, I wanted to recreate some of the depth and organic character of the woodland. Each section brings a different element to the piece, much like the changing colours, textures and little details you discover along the forest trails.

For me, these places have always been somewhere to slow down, take a breath and find a sense of calm. The Heart of Éislek is a little tribute to the landscapes that make Luxembourg feel like home, and a reminder of the beauty that can be found in the places we return to time and time again.
