'Heartwood'

£390.00
Sold

47cm diameter

Heartwood was created as a wedding gift to celebrate a new chapter, a journey of growth and the craft of becoming. Commissioned by a sister for her newly-qualified carpenter sister, the piece was created as a lasting reminder of the dedication and achievement of becoming a fully qualified carpenter. Inspired by heartwood, the oldest central part that has accumulated the tree's history. The layers and rings within the piece reflect the many stages of growth, learning and experience that shape a person’s journey, each one becoming part of the story that lies within.

For a couple living in Denmark with a deep connection to nature, this piece holds a meaning that reaches beyond its symbolism. The earthy tones, organic textures and circular movement are a gentle nod to the natural world and the grounding beauty found within it. At the centre, the layers come together to represent both the heart of the tree and the heart of a new beginning, celebrating not only a remarkable achievement, but the roots, growth and future that lie ahead.
