175cm x 92xm

Whilst travelling around Thailand, I came across a beautiful painting by Jaggapan Tipvarin, an artist who has lived in the national park area of Hua Hin for over 30 years. He draws all of his inspiration from the stunning natural scenery surrounding him. I immediately fell in love with the landscape and the way he captured its colours, shapes and sense of movement and it inspired me to experiment with creating this large landscape hanging weaving.

Taking inspiration from his use of colour and the organic formations within the landscape, I began to explore how I could translate these elements through yarn and texture. Layer by layer, I experimented with different weaving techniques, allowing the fibres to form their own shapes and movement and creating a tactile interpretation of the landscape that first inspired me. This piece has since found its home with my own family, making it a particularly special part of my collection, a lasting reminder of a place, a painting and a moment of inspiration from our travels.
