45cm x 70cm

Created for a lovely couple living on the south coast of England, near the wild and beautiful landscape of Durdle Door, this piece was inspired by the meeting of earth, water, coast and rock.

The colours reflect the landscape surrounding their home, deep coastal blues and greens, soft sea -foam tones, earthy browns and warm sandy neutrals. Woven intuitively through layers of tactile texture, organic wave-like movements echo the rhythm of the sea, while heavier, sculptural fibres speak to the weathered forms of rock and earth.

At its heart, the piece is about connection and unity, the way water shapes rock, earth meets the sea, each element exists in constant relationship with the others. There is movement within the tapestry, yet also a sense of stillness, bringing a softness and quiet reminder of the coastline into their home. A small, tactile reflection of the landscape beyond their walls and of the ever-changing relationship between land, sea and sky.
